Mocha Moms and OnStar Host
Kids Summer Safety Event

National non-profit partners with OnStar to educate families on how   to stay safe in
and around the vehicle

Upper Marlboro, MD- July 22- Mocha Moms, Inc., in collaboration with OnStar, is excited to

host a kids' summer safety event focused on vehicle safety on Saturday, July 25, 2015 at Silver

Spring Veterans Plaza in Downtown Silver Spring, Maryland.

This event is for the whole family - there will be kid-friendly, fun activities as well as hands-on

safety demonstrations with Chevrolet and OnStar, along with car and booster seat checks

conducted by Safe Kids Worldwide and local child passenger safety technicians.

"Early education and thoughtful conversations about what can happen in a vehicle emergency

and how to react are great ways to prepare children," said Greg Martin, executive director,

Global Public Policy at General Motors. "OnStar receives an average of 100,000 emergency

service requests each month via the red emergency button, evidence of why safety education,

especially with young passengers, is so critical."

"We know the importance of teaching good skills but an overlooked aspect of preparing our

young drivers and passengers is how to respond in an emergency situation," said Kate Carr,

president and CEO of Safe Kids Worldwide. "Working together with OnStar, we created this e-

book to guide kids on what to do in an emergency when they're driving themselves or riding

with friends."

OnStar will also have copies of their guide, "Keeping Kids Safe," available to help facilitate a

conversation on vehicle-related emergencies with your child.

"No one cares about child safety more than mothers," commented Kuae Mattox, President of

Mocha Moms, Inc. "Given we're the ones often driving them around, vehicle and road safety is

especially important to us, whether it's determining which car seat is safest, making sure that

seat is properly installed, or making sure our kids are safe in and around cars. That's why we've

welcomed this partnership with OnStar, a company that keeps us and our children safe on the

road."
