New Teens & Tweens Network!

Welcome the Director, Cheryl Grimes

We are thrilled to announce the creation of a new network: the Mocha Moms Tweens & Teens Network! We will be up and running soon but please meet our Tweens & Tweens Network Director, Cheryl Grimes!
Cheryl has been a member of Mocha Moms for 13 years, serving in a variety of positions.  She has served as the Queens, NY chapter president for three years and the New York State coordinator for four years before moving to Maryland in 2012 with her husband and daughter.  Currently she is a member of the Howard County chapter, where she has served as the Community Service Chair and remains an active member.  Cheryl is thrilled to take on her latest role in Mocha Moms as the Director of the new Tween and Teen network (TNT), mirroring her changing role as a parent to a teen aged daughter.  Her vision for this network is to engage both mothers and their children during a time that is quite bewildering to both.  While, the network will begin as a pilot program in the Maryland area chapters, creating educational and empowering workshops for tweens/teens and their parents, it will be extended to chapters nationwide in 2017.  She looks forward to working with the TNT chapter and state representatives to create programming for both mothers and their children.  Additionally, the network will feature an online community for parents to discuss issues and share information, specific to parenting a tween/teen.
Cheryl was raised in Cleveland, Ohio where she attended Ursuline College earning her B.A. in Fashion Design after completing a year as a visiting student at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC.   After graduating in 1990, she moved to NYC and worked in the fashion industry for 13 years.  Cheryl has designed coat collections for various fashion companies, including London Fog, Bromley Coats and GIII Apparel Group where she designed the Sienna Studio and Kenneth Cole women's collections.  Additionally she taught leather design at her alma mater, the Fashion Institute of Technology.  After becoming a mom in 2002, Cheryl chose to stay at home full time, using her organizational and creative skills as a leader in Mocha Moms.  In 2007, she returned to the fashion industry as a freelance designer, while becoming very active in her daughter's school volunteering in the classroom as well as the PTA.  Seeking a new, more family friendly industry, she turned to her love of education, and began substitute teaching in various NYC elementary schools and now in the Howard County School System.  Cheryl resides in Howard County, MD with her husband of 18 years and their daughter.
