New Castle County, DE Chapter launches BBOB Reading Nook
 
November 1, 2008 - the New Castle County, DE Chapter joined our national initiative to encourage reading among boys living in urban communities.
  
 

On November 1, 2008, the New Castle County Chapter launched its Boys Booked on Barbershops at Tri State Clippers and Salon located in Claymont, Delaware. The Mochas set up the reading nook, along with kid friendly chairs and a colorful rug to set the "reading" atmosphere. As the children and their parents entered the shop, we passed out snacks to the kids and encouraged them to read a book while they waited for services. The reading nook included a variety of books for beginning to advanced readers. Since our launch was three days prior to such a historical presidential election, we displayed the book depicting the life of Barack Obama on top for all to see.
