Moms work to boost reading in New Orleans

The New Orleans Chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc. launched Boys Booked on Barbershops and Girls Booked on Beauty Salons. The event was covered by the major daily newspaper - The Times Picayune.

   

November 16, 2008 - The New Orleans Chapter of Mocha Moms, Inc. launched Boys Booked on Barbershops and Girls Booked on Beauty Salons in 10 barbershops and beauty salons throughout the city with a launch party on Saturday, Nov. 15 at Beauty on the Bayou Salon. The event was covered by the major daily newspaper – The Times Picayune. A Metro Section story along with a photo ran the following day in the Sunday newspaper.  Ty Salvant, NOLA Mocha Moms president, did a live radio interview on location to spread the word about B-BOB and G-BOB. And an article will appear in one of the most respected African American weekly newspapers – The Louisiana Weekly – about the initiative.
