Back to School Outreach: Strategies for Connecting Uninsured Children to Health Coverage
A Free Online Webinar
Thursday, June 11, 2009
3:00 - 4:30 pm (Eastern Time)

Please RSVP by Monday, June 8th to CarolineB@americaspromise.org.  Call-in and login instructions will be provided in advance to those who RSVP.

All Kids Covered focuses on connecting uninsured children to health coverage.  All organizations that serve young people and/or their families can play an important role in helping to build awareness about the availability of Medicaid, CHIP or Community Health Centers.  As parents focus on preparing their children for a successful school year, it's a great time to reach out to them and encourage them to apply for coverage.  This webinar will share best practices in outreach during Back to School Time.

Moderator:

David A. Roos, Ph.D., Executive Director, Covering Kids & Families of Indiana, Inc.(CKF-IN).  CKF-IN is a statewide organization committed to ensuring that all children and families eligible for Medicaid and the state's Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP) are enrolled.

Webinar Presenters:

Jason Patnosh, Associate Vice President/National Director-Community HealthCorps, National Association of Community Health Centers (NACHC).  NACHC promotes the provision of high quality, comprehensive and affordable health care that is coordinated, culturally and linguistically competent, and community directed for all medically underserved populations.  NACHC will share information about successful strategies that Community Health Centers have implemented in enrolling children in health coverage and will discuss ways that community based organizations can partner with Centers on outreach initiatives during Bach to School time.

Kelli King-Jackson, Director of Outreach, Children's Defense Fund-Houston.  CDF Houston office works to provide every Texas child a Healthy Start in life and access to affordable health coverage.  CDF Houston will describe their effective school outreach model and share best practices in reaching out to children and their families during Back to School Time.

Karen Odegaard, Outreach Specialist, Covering Kids and Families-Wisconsin.  Covering Kids and Families-Wisconsin is a coalition of more than 65 organizations committed to reducing the number of uninsured children and families.  Covering Kids and Families-Wisconsin will share information about their successful school-based strategies to increase enrollment and how they have begun adapting these strategies to work with other youth/family serving organizations.
