Greetings All!
If you missed the 2009 Mocha Moms, Inc. National Conference then you really missed an event of a lifetime! More than 200 Mochas converged on the city of Chicago to rejuvenate and relax this past weekend, and that we did! For those that were there you know what I am speaking of and we thank you for joining us.
We opened Thursday night with our Welcome Reception where we networked with fellow Mochas from across the country and enjoyed exquisite appetizers and a delectable Mocha Chocolate fondue display. Mochas were very excited to be starting their weekend get-away off in great style!
Friday Mochas were up bright and early for our Morning Mocha Yoga Stretch followed by a continental breakfast and our Opening Plenary Session. The days seminar sessions were all at capacity and our anticipation was met with dynamic speakers who imparted a wealth of knowledge and useful information. The luncheon was an event within itself. Dr. Sandra Baxter shared important information on "Literacy Matters" and Disney presented a spectacular preview of their upcoming animated film The Frog Princess. Mochas were overjoyed, and some even moved to tears, when they saw the beautiful images of the newest Disney princess who looked like some of our own daughters. Our afternoon "Mocha Lite" sessions were refreshing and gave us the flexibility to fit in some extra seminars, that were shorter but packed with tips, and/or to go enjoy shopping in the Mocha Marketplace with our fabulous vendors. The afternoon was carefree and was all about taking "me time" whatever that entailed! That night over 100 of us painted the town Mocha Chocolate at club Rios where we enjoyed a Salsa dance lesson and hours of dancing. It was wonderful to enjoy our Moms Night Out with Mochas from all across the country.
Saturday was just a continuation of the awesome experience we were already having. The seminars were even more enlightening and the Mocha Awards Luncheon with our special guest Angie Stone put us over the top! Ms. Stone was very down to earth in sharing her personal testimony and inspired all of us to continue to endure despite all odds. We honored her by making her an Honorary Mocha Mom- a title you know we all take very seriously. She cried, and accepted the honor by saying, "it meant more than a Grammy" undoubtedly because of what being a Mocha Mom really means. We are the nucleus of our families and we do make it happen despite all odds! Later that night we really relaxed by putting on our PJ's and having an intimate fellowship where we discussed keeping the romance alive with acclaimed romance author Celeste Norfleet, followed by "Mocha Confessions" that had us all laughing, crying, or just reflecting. It was the perfect end to a great day together.
We ended our week-end at our Farewell Reception Sunday morning where Mochas took pictures and exchanged vows to keep in touch with all the fabulous new Mochas they had bonded with over the last few days. Many are already keeping those promises via email, Yahoo groups, Facebook, etc. and I am sure the relationships formed will continue to grow.
For those that joined us, thank you again! For those that could not join us for whatever reason, we hope that you will be with us at your regional conference next year, and definitely at the 2011 National Conference in Las Vegas!
Stay tuned for more details about upcoming conferences and events coming soon via your email, chapter yahoo groups, our national website, and now on our new Mocha Facebook page and on Twitter!
