REPORT from President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Executive Task Force

Mocha Moms, Inc. is encouraged by the new report from President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Executive Task Force.

Mocha Moms, Inc. is encouraged by the new report from President Obama’s My Brother’s Keeper Executive Task Force. Those of us working on the ground to improve opportunities and close the gap for young people of color have known all along what problems our young people are facing, regardless of economic status.

For years now, Mocha Moms chapters across the country have been working to build a reading culture outside of school by setting up reading nooks and libraries in barbershops where young men of color can be found every weekend. Our Occupy Schools movement is yet another effort where our Moms across the country are committing to spending more time in our children’s schools, focusing on transforming them not just for our own kids but for all students of color.

The My Brother’s Keeper task force has found that these are action items we can all implement, and brings all of the organizations working to lift up young men of color into a more streamlined, effective and strategic starting point.
